Layouts

Help! I'm buried under piles of layouts. Those darn American Crafts layouts I bought from scrapsupply.com have been taunting me with their emptiness. Never mind that I have PILES of leftovers from the garage sale. Never mind that I have PILES of laundry to put away. Never mind that we are going to Minnesota tomorrow and I have PILES of packing to do. What was I thinking?

for sale

Wall Cabinet  Yep, typepad ate my last post. Darn. I really need to sit down and learn this new format - I need more time. How about you? I can already tell this summer is just going to fly by.

In the meantime, I'm prepping up for a mini garage sale on Saturday. I thought I would throw these things out for my blog readers, in case anyone is looking for a bargain. First, a couple things from my old studio. I have this small wall cabinet. I think originally came from Target. It holds cute jars, etc. and I used to store my MM paints in it. For sale: $20.00

Next, I have this wall fixture that came from a scrapbook store. It was fabulous on my wall because it held so much stuff, but is still very shallow (didn't take up a lot of square footage). I have 30 clear paper trays and at least thirty metal hooks in various sizes that go with it. This is a solid wood piece around 8 foot high. For sale: $100.00 (includes everything)

Next, I have one of those cute rolling storage carts. It includes 20) 12 X 12 Paper files with tabs - all in great shape. The cart has casters and two baskets underneath. Wish I still had room for this. For sale: $20.00

Last, a non-scrapbook item. My English Ironstone dishes. These are all original almost antiques (I think made around the bicentennial time). Made in England featuring American scenes - Betsy Ross, Paul Revere, etc. Only one dinner plate has a tiny chip. The two serving platters sell for at least $65-85 bucks on ebay. But, I'm too lazy to list (and ship) all these dishes, so there you go. Two serving platters, ten dinner plates, nine cups and saucers, 8 berry bowls, 5 bread plates - All for one price: $150.

Check out the photos, and e-mail me if you have any questions.Ironstone

friday photo share

Haven't updated the poor blog - yikes. School ended and let's just say...I wasn't ready. Finally today I feel a bit more on track. The kids are waiting as I type to head over to Grandma's for a swim. So, I'll make this quick. These photos pretty much sum up my week. Summer is HERE!

Bunny ears My sister-in-law putting up with my brother's teasing. (Not her husband, btw). Mark is a little miffed because he's losing at Scrabble. Ha.

Snow at the cabin in Flagstaff on Memorial Day weekend.Bizarre! But, the kids loved it! Played in that darn snow allllll day long.

Kabobs Yummy kabobs we grilled on Wednesday. You can't really see, but my favorite are in the back there - marinated chicken with fresh peach slices.

Dude What a cutie-pie! I just love that little ear sticking out! Watch for this photo to show up on a layout, for sure!

New Dishes This just makes me happy. My kitchen is gradually making the switch to red and white. LOVE these new plates from Pottery Barn - let's see - those would be the ones I got for 75% off! Yes!!

weekend update

Wallpaper 2 Had a happy/sad weekend. Sad because we attended another funeral on Saturday. A young father with eight children lost his 10 month battle with cancer last week. There were so many ups and downs during his treatment - I think that made it extra hard. Still, he is home in heaven now which is the happy part.

We did end up tackling a Monday project after spending Sunday at my folks' cabin in Flagstaff (lots of relaxing and Scrabble playing there). Remember that lovely floral wallpaper? It's gone! Yay! Keith touched up all the trim in my craft studio while the kids and I ripped wallpaper. Good times. Last night he put the first coat of paint on the door and window frame. Now, I need to pick out a wall color (here we go again). This will be our new playroom. What do you think? Yellow? Orange? Green?

I couldn't resist a quick post to show off Eloise's mad skillz. She plops those fingers in her mouth and is one happy camper. Happy enough to sleep through the night! YAHOOOOOOOOOOO!Two fingers

another teenager

Another teenager in the house. Ah, the joys. Clara is 13 - all joking aside, she really is a joy. We had four of her girlfriends over a week ago for her big birthday bash; it was great. They all dressed up and we took kooky photos for a project from THIS book. I set up the tripod and took multiple photos of each girl. Then, I uploaded them to Kodak, ordered from one hour photo and picked them up while the girls ate lunch. I had them mount each photo (they each got ten) on cardstock (used up a BUNCH of scraps -yay), then we cut them up into 2" chunks. Boy did we giggle we then started rearranging heads, bodies and legs with each other. TOO funny! It was such a great "party favor game" to play. Of course, I took some group shots, too. I scrapped my favorite (see below); I couldn't resist these cuties. So, number five is offically launched into teenhood. Sigh. Time; it sure does fly.

four months

Had a couple requests for the four month picture of Eloise. And, of course, have to post for the Grandma's benefit, too. Ello is getting chubbier (and cuter) by the day. Still doesn't like the bottle, but has discovered that her fingers taste better than the pacifier. She seems to prefer the first two fingers  of her right hand - slurp, slurp. She arches her back a ton, but hasn't managed to roll over quite yet. She eats cereal at lunch and dinner and her eyes are constantly following our food from plate to mouth.  I think she's figuring out that our food looks a might tastier than her rice cereal and carrots. She's our best tempered baby since Ethan - such a joy to have around!

scrappin'

I'm still formulating the birthday party post, so bear with me. In the meantime, I finished this layout with the same photos I have in my banner, so I thought it would be fun to post that. I also took my photos for May's 12 on 12 - will share those as soon as the layout is done (hoping to get to that today).

In other news, I have big ambitions for finishing the clear out of Eloise's nursery. She's officially in the crib from the cradle, so it's time. Maybe writing it down will help to give me the boost I need. Heh.Get_happy

coming up for air

Whew! What a crazy week! Tristam's graduation was Thursday with his "party" on Friday. Clara's 13th birthday party was Saturday with a sleep over for four additional 13 year olds. Then, Mother's Day brought a wonderful party over here for all Moms (and potential Moms) where the guys served us grilled filets, yummy salad and baked beans. I think I'm partied out. But, I do have blog material for a while <grin>.

First, Tristam's graduation. So nice. So so nice. He's so excited to be done with this phase of his education. It's been a struggle sometimes, but honestly? He makes it look easy. He earned his degree in Architecture from the College of Design at ASU in four short years. He did this on a full ride scholarship. His freshman year he earned a spot on the Dean's List and maintained it throughout his college career. After his first two years, he applied to the Upper Division along with over two hundred other candidates and his portfolio earned him one of only 60 spots on the "fast track". His studio designs twice earned him awards for Excellence in Design and a spot in the Dean's Gallery. Keith and I attended several of his showings on campus and we were both excited and impressed by his work. Behind the scenes, we knew he had many sleepless nights laboring over these projects. (62 hours without sleep was his record Senior year). He also enjoyed a Senior trip to New Orleans with his class where they saw first hand the devastation caused by Katrina. Most of his studio work over the past four years involved designing green, sustainable and economically feasible projects. One of the awards he won Senior year was for his New Orleans project. It was a mixed use housing and retail combination that was really, really cool. (Sorry, I don't know the techno-jargon, but it WAS cool).

So, long story short, we are so proud of him. We know that God has truly blessed him with a lot of talent and determination. We are looking forward to watching him grow into this new phase of his life; which includes buying a house, starting his Master's work, and maybe, just maybe catching some lucky girl's eye. Sorry, couldn't resist that last one. It's a Mom's prerogative. Heh.

Congratulations, Tristam! We love you!

sneak peek #111

Actually, I don't think I've offered THAT many sneak peeks, but I got a giggle at THIS post on the Paper Crafts blog. A very interesting tour of the PC photo studio - and check it out! My very own little cards are the ones being shot for the new Paper Crafts Three Ways special issue. So, if you want a little sneak peek - go check it out.

Graduation tonight! So, I'll be back tomorrow with photos and a little summary of Tristam's journey through ASU's College of Design. Sweet.
